Man arrested for racially aggravated assault and slamming door into officers

A man has been arrested for racially aggravated assault and slamming a door into officers. Police were called to Soho Road in Handsworth, to a reports of a male behaving violently in a premises.

The offender reacted by slamming the door into the police. He was eventually brought under control and carried out of the building.

The man was arrested for racially aggravated assault and racially aggravated public order offences. Soho Road Police posted details of the incident on X on Wednesday.

Soho Road police posted on X : "Officers have arrested a male for racially aggravated assault and racially aggravated public order offences. Male tried slamming his door in to officers but was unsuccessful, then having to be carried out of the premises.

"Male now in custody."

Birmingham City Council implemented a public space protection orders (PSPO) in Lozells, East Handsworth and Soho on September 24. The following activities are prohibited:

  • Groups causing anti-social behaviour
  • Being under the influence of intoxicating substance and/or alcohol while in a public place, and
  • Obstructing footpaths and inappropriate use of bus shelters.
