Woman fights for life after car hits pedestrian near Birmingham Airport

A woman was fighting for life after a car hit a pedestrian near Birmingham Airport. It happened on Bickenhill Parkway in Marston Green, around a mile from the airport, shortly after 6pm on Monday, November 4.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance critical care car. On arrival medics found a woman in a critical ‘life-threatening’ condition.

She was given specialist trauma care and taken by ambulance on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A woman has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a road traffic collision last night. West Midlands Ambulance Service was called by police to a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Bickenhill Parkway, Marston Green at 6.17pm on Monday, November 4.

“On arrival ambulance staff found a woman in a life-threatening condition. They immediately began administering specialist trauma care, before conveying her under emergency blue light conditions to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.” West Midlands Police has been approached for a statement.
