Arrest after Northfield street trouble which left man with serious injuries

A man suffered serious injuries following a street fight in Birmingham. Police said another man was arrested after the disorder in Northfield yesterday, Thursday, October 17.

West Midlands Police said they were called to reports of disorder on Groveley Lane, at around 3.30pm. A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police said the second man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition. Police inquiries are ongoing.

In a statement, police said: "We have arrested a man following an assault in Northfield, Birmingham. We were called to reports of disorder in Groveley Lane, Northfield, at around 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday), involving two men.

"A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. The second man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a stable condition. We understand the concern this incident may raise in the community, and as a result, a police presence will remain in the area to ease any concerns.
