Police issue update after boy, 17, killed outside Marston Green shops

A teenager who was arrested on suspicion of murder after a boy, 17, was killed outside a busy row of shops in Solihull has been bailed. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder after the male victim, also 17, was fatally stabbed in Marston Green on Tuesday night, October 29.

Police said on Thursday morning that the boy has been bailed as their investigation into the fatal attack continues to progress. The Marston Green stabbing victim, 17, was found with "life threatening injuries" after the incident on Station Road at 6:20pm.

Police and West Midlands Ambulance crews flooded the scene, with paramedics and critical care staff providing trauma care and life support. Despite best efforts, the boy died at the scene.

The identity of the stabbing victim has not been officially confirmed, but the tragedy prompted hundreds of tributes online.

Providing an investigation update, a West Midlands Police spokesperson said on Thursday October 31: "A 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

"We know people will understandably be concerned and we will again be in the area conducting enquiries throughout the day. We will continue to have extra officers in the area over the coming days and we would encourage anyone with any information, or concerns, to get in touch.

"We are reviewing CCTV footage and making enquires and we are also appealing to any witnesses who haven't spoken to us yet, to come forward. People can leave information by calling us on 101 and quoting log 4239 29/10/24."
