Police appeal after double BMW M40 crash 'seriously injures' passenger in 80s

Warwickshire Police have urged witnesses to get in touch after the crash on October 15 left an elderly passenger with serious injuries

Police have appealed for witnesses after a motorway collision between two BMWs left a man with serious injuries. It happened just after noon on Tuesday, October 15.

Warwickshire Police traffic officers said the smash involved a BMW estate which hit the back of a second BMW which had stopped on the hard shoulder of the M40. It took place at the southbound exit for junction 16, the Hockley Heath interchange, near Solihull.

Officers appealed for any information, or dashcam footage, after the passenger of the stationary BMW was badly hurt. The injured man was in his 80s.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson said: "On Tuesday, October 15, a white BMW estate was involved in a road traffic collision with a blue BMW X2 on the M40 southbound at the exit for Junction 16.

"The white BMW was parked on the hard shoulder when, at around 12:30pm, the blue BMW collided with the rear of it, resulting in a passenger of the parked car in his 80s sustaining serious injuries."
