The One Show fans stunned by Angela Rippon's real age on birthday as she 'looks 20 years younger'

The Strictly Come Dancing contestant and Rip Off Britain presenter has been on our TV screens for decades

Angela Rippon was thrown a special birthday party on The One Show on Friday night - leaving viewers who thought she was much younger stunned. Angela has graced the screens of British television for nearly six decades.

She was the first female journalist to regularly read the news on national TV and now champions consumers on Rip Off Britain alongside Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford. Last year she became the oldest contestant to compete on Strictly Come Dancing.

Angela was given a huge bunch of flowers on the show and received a special visit from former Strictly partner Kai Widdrington, and a cake from McFly and Busted. She spoke candidly about age and health saying, saying she was passionate about getting the nation dancing to help the NHS as she urged people to 'take responsibility for their own health'.

Viewers were surprised by Angela's milestone birthday as she turned 80. One wrote on X: "Angela ‘Rips’ Ripon looks amazing - she could pass for 60 easily #TheOneShow."

A second commented: "Angela, we need your beauty secret. You cant be 80!!#theoneshow," while a third echoed: "Angela Rippon looking STUNNING for her 80 years."

Angela has organised a National Dance Day next year to get the country moving saying: "From cradle to grave you can dance...you have to use your brain, so it;s great for keeping your brain working."

She added: "I've now get the NHS su[porting what I'm doing...get the nation to dance...something that will keep you fit, strong, supple, improve your cor strength, give you balance so you don't fall over and injure yourself when you're old. We can save the NHS money and we can get the nation fit, healthy and dancing."

The One Show airs on BBC One on weekdays at 7pm.
