England cricket legend Andrew Flintoff is resurrecting one of Birmingham's best-loved TV institutions - just in time for Christimas. ITV has confirmed the return of Bullseye with the former Top Gear presenter as the host.

The 46-year-old will present a Christmas special of the iconic game show, originally made by ATV in Birmingham and fronted by comedian Jim Bowen from 1981 to 1995. Flintoff said: "I love the darts and Bullseye was one of my favourite shows as a kid. Can't quite believe I'll get to host this Christmas special."

He also gave a nod to the legendary host, adding: "You can't beat a bit of Bully!" Flintoff TV appearances have been limited since a serious incident during a Top Gear filming session in 2022 that resulted in facial and rib injuries at Dunsfold Aerodrome's test track.

Following the accident, which left Flintoff suffering anxiety and nightmares as well as his physical wounds, the BBC decided to put Top Gear on a prolonged break. He recently fronted BBC show 'Freddie Flintoff's Field Of Dreams On Tour' and has returned to cricket with a role in England's backroom staff and as head coach of the Northern Superchargers.

Dave Spikey brought Bullseye back for a brief stint in 2006 on Challenge TV, hosting two seasons.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV's director of entertainment and daytime commissioning, said: "Bullseye is back and we can't wait to welcome Freddie Flintoff back to ITV too. It's a real treat to have both as key parts of our Christmas schedule on ITV1 and ITVX this year."-
