BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden shares health update as she speaks for first time since collapse
by Katy Hallam, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/katy-hallam/ · Birmingham LiveStrictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has issued a health update as she appeared on TV for the first time since a health scare. The professional dancer collapsed following last week's live show after performing with celebrity partner JB Gill.
She was taken to hospital as a precaution, according to her representative. Amy appeared on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two on BBC Two tonight for an exclusive interview (Friday, November 1).
Host Janette Manrara announced she would be talking to Amy alongside JB Gill and professional dancer Lauren Oakley, who has stepped in to cover Amy this week as she rests up following her hospital visit. Amy, who only returned to the show full time this year after being given the all clear from breast cancer, reassured fans that she was feeling 'so much better'.

Amy, 34, said: "I'm feeling so much better and I'd just like to thank everyone for all the love and support I've received to my Strictly family. Yeah feeling much better."
She added: "JB's been so supportive of me...the pair of them just messaged all week." Lauren then revealed they had set up a WhatsApp group to keep Amy updated with videos of their rehearsals.
It has not been confirmed yet whether Amy will return for the following week in the competition. Amy has faced an incredibly tough time recently after she discovered a lump in her breast the day before her honeymoon and was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and fertility treatment.
The Strictly Come Dancing star was later diagnosed with another form of cancer elsewhere in her body, but was thankfully given the all-clear earlier this year and was allowed to return to the BBC show. Amy has also been open about suffering from Chron's disease for years, a chronic inflammatory bowel condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract that causes recurrent diarrhea, abdominal pain and cramping among other symptoms.
Fans were delighted to see Amy returning to TV. One wrote on X: "Amy appearing on It Takes Two. Great to see that she's ok." A second added: "Such a nice surprise to see Amy on the #ItTakesTwo sofa with JB and Lauren."
Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday, November 2 at 6.30pm.
