Ollie Watkins insists Morgan Rogers "has the world at his feet" after they both scored in Aston Villa's 3-1 win at Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Rogers bagged his second league goal of the season to level the game up inside 10 minutes after Raul Jimenez's early opener. Emi Martinez then denied Andreas Pereira from the penalty spot after Matty Cash was penalised for a handball in the box.

Watkins then put Villa in the lead on the hour mark by heading in Youri Tielemans' corner, before Joachim Andersen received a red card for denying the striker a goal-scoring opportunity. Issa Diop scored an own goal minutes later to hand Villa a two-goal lead late on.

"I think it was entertaining for the fans," Watkins told BBC Match of the Day. "We didn't control the game as much as we wanted to in the first half.

"In the second half we kept going and finally got there. I was disappointed with my opportunity in the first half. I tried to dink the keeper, but we kept going.

"We have a lot of players that can come on and score. It is good competition and it keeps you on your toes. It is only getting better for us and we see the direction the club is going in. It's exciting times being a Villa player."

Asked about Rogers, Watkins said: "He has got the world at his feet. He always wants to work and has the ability to take people on. I am not going to big him up too much as I don't want his head getting too big, but he's got it all."

Rogers has made great strides in his development since joining Villa from Middlesbrough back in January in a deal worth just £8m, rising to £15m in add-ons.

"He is a talented player," Emery added. "The commitment he has with Aston Villa as he's from Birmingham. We are trying to push him, tactically as well he get his best position. He has the talent and that's the most important."
