DI Ray season 2 welcomes Line of Duty and Coronation Street stars to cast

DI Ray season 2 is set two months after the title character's suspension.

DI Ray is back on ITV and DI Rachita Ray (played by Parminder Nagra) is thrown back into a homicide cast after a fatal drive-by shooting outside a Birmingham hospital leaves two dead. A young nurse and the head of a notorious local crime syndicate both lost their lives.

DI Ray is in a race against time to uncover the truth before the crime boss's family act out their revenge and a gang war erupts. The second season of DI Ray has six episodes.

ITV Commissioning Editor Helen Perry said: “Delighted that D.I. Ray will be returning to our screens for a second series. Not only is it an adrenaline-fuelled, gripping thriller, it is also a bold and unique police drama that has something to say about contemporary Britain.

DI Patrick Holden - Patrick Baladi

Patrick Baladi is a 52-year-old English actor best known for his role as Neil Godwin in The Office.

He has also starred in the drama Stella and the thriller Marcella.

The star played Jimmy Lakewell in Line of Duty.

Baladi married actress Gemma Walker, whom he met on the set of A Touch of Frost.

Anita Choudhry - Dinita Gohil

Dinita Gohil is a British actress known for her roles in Greed, The Sandman and Silent Witness.

She may also be recognised for her roles in Treason and The Last Train.

DC Charlene Ellis - Witney White

Witney White starred in Father Brown as Scarlett Streatham back in 2023.

Her other credits include Holby City and Doctors.

Dave Chapman - Michael Socha

Michael Socha is a 36-year-old English actor known for his roles in the films This Is England and Summer.

He went on to star in Being Human and Our World War.

He has a son with his former partner Faye.

Sharan Mochani - Syreeta Kumar

Syreeta Kumar is a British actress who appeared in Coronation Street between March and September 2013 as DC Leslie, investigating the blaze at the Rovers.

Her other notable credits include Line of Duty, Torchwood, Notes on a Scandal and Doctors.

Suzie Chapman - Lauren Drummond

Lauren Drummond is a 36-year-old English actress known for playing Mika Grainger in Waterloo Road.

She also played Chantelle Lane in Holby City and student nurse Faye Clark in the ITV Drama The Royal.

Ravinder ‘Rav’ Mochani - Taha Rahim

Taha Rahim is a 43-year-old French actor who played Charles Sobhraj in The Serpent.

He may also be recognised for his role in The Looming Tower.

The star is married to French actress Leïla Bekhti and they have four children.
