Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, widow of Michael Mosley, has opened up about the profound grief she's experienced since her husband's sudden passing.

Michael, a doting father to four children, was just 67 when he died after vanishing on the Greek island of Symi last June. In the midst of severe heat, he had set out for a hike from a beach back to their accommodation.

Clare raised the alarm after just a few hours, but sadly, it was four days later when his body was found in difficult terrain, bringing an extensive search to a heart-wrenching end.

Harrowing footage appeared to show the moment he gave into the punishing heat during his descent down a slope. At the time, Clare commented that he looked to have taken on an "incredible climb, took the wrong route, and collapsed where he couldn't easily be seen."

Although natural causes were cited by Greek authorities as the reason for Michael's death, an inquest is due next month in Buckinghamshire, where the family resides, reports the Mirror.

In a moving homage ahead of Monday's The One Show, presenter Alex Jones announced to the audience: "But first tonight, we are remembering the work of Dr. Michael Mosely, and I have been speaking to the person who knew him best.

"Dr Michael Mosley was a beloved broadcaster known for his health advice. His sudden death from what is believed to be heat exhaustion while holidaying in Greece last summer with his wife was a shock to us all.

"Today, I've been kindly invited by Clare, Michael's widow, to their home to discuss the remarkable legacy he left behind. This will be commemorated in a final programme celebrating his life and achievements."

As Alex sat down opposite Clare, she started the conversation with a sincere question: "How are you doing? How are the children doing? You must still be processing what's happened to Michael."

Clare replied with evident emotion: "Yes, I think we are. It's just as they say that it's kind of one day at a time, and it can hit you suddenly like pain, and then it settles, and actually, your body's quite kind to you as well because actually, we found that, you know, we were after Michael died, we were able to laugh and tell silly jokes as well, but we all miss him."

When asked about Michael's role as a partner, Clare fondly recalled that he "was very shy", telling Alex: "A lot of people didn't recognise that because he's quite enthusiastic about what he's doing, and he was just kind and thoughtful. He absolutely loved his work, and whatever he did, he checked it out before he put it out there, and so I think that's one of the reasons people really trusted him."

Clare went on to reveal that among the accomplishments Michael cherished most was his success in reversing his diabetes. She amusingly noted that even now, she stumbles upon chocolate she had once concealed from him around their house.

This evening, audiences will also have the opportunity to see Michael in action in a BBC series he was passionately working on prior to his passing.

The two freshly produced 30-minute episodes expand on the theme found in Michael's Radio 4 podcast entitled 'Just One Thing'. In the introduction of the show, viewers can catch glimpses of Michael as he indulges in various activities such as playing golf, practicing his dance moves, doing a bit of gardening, and even braving the chill of an ice-cold bath.

A particular highlight is when he joins Clare to partake in a light-hearted drawing session where they sketch each other, leading to much laughter over the hardly recognisable artworks.

Discussing the series, Clare said: "I'm so proud of what he's done. I had so many lovely letters saying how important it was to what he'd been doing, and some of them made me cry."

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One andMichael Mosley – Just One Thing airs at 8.30pm October 14 and 21 on BBC One at 8.30pm and BBC iPlayer. In addition, all episodes of his podcast will be repeated on Radio 4 from October 27
