Drugs found sewn into hat after car stopped sparks police raid at Birmingham property

Two people were arrested after police stopped a car and found drugs sewn into a hat. It prompted a major drugs raid on a home in Birmingham.

Police said 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs were discovered after the stop in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, October 31. A man , aged in his 30s, was held.

Police said a warrant was then executed at an address in Handsworth. Suspected Class A drugs and a large amount of cash were found. A woman, aged in her 20s, was inside the property, police said. She was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

In a statement, police said: "Two people are in custody this morning after a significant amount of Class A drugs were seized in #Birmingham. Officers stopped and searched a car in the early hours of this morning, finding around 100 wraps of suspected Class A drugs and arresting the driver, a man in his 30s.

"Some of the drugs were found sewn into a hat inside the car, with a smaller amount of suspected Class B drugs also found. Shortly after this, a warrant was carried out at an address in #Handsworth, where around 200 more wraps of suspected Class A drugs were found inside, as well as a large amount of cash and another smaller amount of suspected Class B drugs.

"A woman in her 20s was inside the property and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. Both people remain in custody today while enquiries continue."
