SANDY — A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Sandy woman believed to have exposed a 2-year-old child to harmful, illicit drugs.

Police said Amanda Longmore, 37, is under investigation for child endangerment after "knowingly or intentionally cause or permit a child or a vulnerable adult to be exposed to, inhale, ingest or have contact with a controlled substance, chemical substance or drug paraphernalia," according to the arrest warrant issued by Sandy police.

On June 10, Longmore's mother was babysitting a 2-year-old granddaughter, but had to leave for an appointment, a police booking affidavit states. Longmore's mother left the child in the care of Longmore, the grandmother's adult daughter, for a few hours.

When Longmore's mother returned home, the 2-year-old had been playing on the floor but stopped moving. The mother said she thought the child was play-sleeping, police said. She picked up the child and noticed the child was limp, not focusing and the child's eyes were not dilating normally, the affidavit said. The child then began vomiting so they took it to Primary Children's Hospital where the child was found to have fentanyl in her system.

Longmore's mother told police that Longmore had been sleeping on the couch near where the child was playing and she had a history of drug use, police said.

Police say Longmore admitted to watching the child that day, and that she does have a history of drug use.
