LAKE POINT, Tooele County — A rollover crash on I-80 just north of Lake Point sent two men to the hospital Tuesday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Dispatchers received reports of a crash near mile marker 99 on I-80 just after 2 a.m. The car, carrying two men in their early 20s, left the road causing a rollover, said UHP agent Tara Stump.

The driver of the car was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash, Stump said.

The passenger was pinned inside the car and had to be removed by emergency personnel, according to initial reports. He was taken to a nearby hospital by medical helicopter in critical condition, while the driver was transported by ambulance.

The right lane heading east is now open, according to the Utah Department of Transportation traffic website.

Stump says that alcohol is being investigated as the factor in the crash.
