"You couldn't make it up" says judge after garda bitten by an Alsatian
The owner was advised to get a dog by gardaí

A young woman from the Ballymore Eustace area, was prosecuted for not having a dog licence at that address on April 15, 2023, and there was no prosecution in relation to the bite.
Sgt Mary Meade said the garda was bitten on the arm and made a full recovery.
Solicitor Seamus Boyle told the court that the dog reacted after a garda on official duty knocked on the door.
Mr Boyle said that the house had been previously broken into and the gardaí “advised her to get a dog.”
“You couldn’t make it up,” commented Judge Zaidan
The defendant told the court that the three year old alsatian had been rescued.
She also said that the animal had never bitten anyone else.
Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a €250 fine.
