BREAKING: Accused pleads guilty to manslaughter in Newbridge last year

Accused appeared before Central Criminal Court this morning.

A 38-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a Slovakian native last year.
Damian Szatkowski of Peachville, Kilshane, Dublin 11 appeared before the Central Criminal Court this morning.
He was arraigned on a charge that he unlawfully killed Marcel Kusenda (47) in Newbridge, Co Kildare on or about 8 March, 2023.
Garret Baker SC for the Director of Public Prosecutions said the plea is accepted.
He said the victim's son lives in Slovakia and would like to make a statement to the court ahead of sentencing.
Mr Justice Paul McDermott adjourned the matter to December 9 and ordered a governor's report from the Midlands Prison, where Szatkowski is in custody.
