Here’s a great opportunity to spec up a new budget PC build, and still get great performance. This AMD Ryzen deal not only enables you to get a decent six-core gaming CPU for a discount price of just $224, but you also get a 1TB Kingston PCIe 4.0 SSD thrown into the mix, meaning you can upgrade your storage at the same time.

As we found in our Ryzen 5 7600X review, this chip offers great performance, but at the time we criticized its overly expensive MSRP of $299. A price drop later, however, and this AMD chip landed a place on our guide to the best gaming CPU, and now it’s even cheaper. At its current price, you save 25% on the MSRP, and that’s before you even consider the free SSD in this Newegg deal.

The Ryzen 5 7600X is a great foundation for building a budget gaming PC. It’s quicker in games than budget Intel options, such as the Core i5 13400F, and while it doesn’t have the 3D V-cache of chips such as the new 9800X3D, it’s significantly cheaper. Unlike some of AMD’s cheaper CPUs, this chip has 32MB of L3 cache, rather than just 16MB, which helps gaming performance, as does its top boost clock of 5.3GHz. Six cores are also plenty for gaming in the vast majority of cases.

This chip has since been usurped by the newer Ryzen 5 9600X, which has a slightly higher clock speed of 5.4GHz, as well as a boost from the new Zen 5 architecture. This new CPU is also well priced right now, going for just $233.99 in this 9600X deal, which is also worth considering if you want the latest tech, although that deal doesn’t come with a free SSD.

Speaking of which, the drive you get in this deal is a great inclusion for the money, and it’s not an aging PCIe 3.0 drive either. The Kingston NV3 uses a 4x PCIe 4.0 interface, and can hit sequential read speeds of up to 6,000MB/s, while being able to write at up to 5,000MB/s. That’s plenty fast enough for most people’s needs, and it’s substantially quicker than any PCIe 3.0 drive. It’s also great to see a 1TB capacity on a free drive, giving you enough room to install a few games on your system.
