The Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck has gained a mild-hybrid powertrain for two variants in Thailand, and this is priced at 1,145,000 baht (RM148,390) for the Hi-Lander 1.9 MHEV 6AT, which is the double-cab body variant with a six-speed automatic transmission. A single-cab derivative of the mild-hybrid model will join the range in Thailand, though pricing has yet to be announced.

Shown in March this year as the Hi-Lander MHEV concept, the mild-hybrid pick-up truck adds a 48-volt hybrid system that contributes electric drive to aid acceleration and harvest energy when decelerating. Energy is stored in a 370 Wh battery, and adds 45 kg to the overall vehicle weight, according to Headlight Magazine.

This powertrain uses the RZ4E-TC MHEV 1.9 litre VGS turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that produces 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque from 1,800 rpm to 2,600 rpm, and this is transmitted to the aforementioned six-speed automatic gearbox, with manual shift override. No four-wheel-drive for the mild-hybrid D-Max, as this is exclusively rear-wheel-drive.

Exterior equipment for the mild-hybrid D-Max includes LED projector headlamps, LED front fog lamps, LED tail lamps, electrically adjustable and folding side mirrors, side steps, and body coloured bumpers. Rolling stock is a set of 18-inch alloy wheels shod in 265/60R18 tyres.

Inside, the D-Max MHEV gets a Super Vision instrument cluster with a multi-information display, a leather-trimmed, reach-and-rake adjustable multi-function steering wheel, push-button engine start with remote starting, a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and auxiliary audio connectivity, eight-speaker audio, and synthetic leather upholstery.

The D-Max MHEV also get an ADAS suite, which is comprised of full speed range adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, AEB and cross-traffic AEB when turning right, multi-collision brake, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot warning.

Active safety features also included are ESC ABS, EBD, hill start assist and hill descent control. ISOFIX child seat mounts feature on the rear seats of the double-cab version, and passive safety kit is comprised of dual front, side and curtain airbags for six in total.

In Thailand, the Isuzu D-Max MHEV is sold in a sole exterior colour, Dolomite White. To recap, the D-Max Hi-lander 1.9 MHEV M 6AT is priced at 1,145,000 baht (RM148,390), with pricing for the single-cab version in Thailand to be announced later.
