The paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024 co-sponsored by Carro and Emit Solar is happening right now at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor, where the sales-driven event is taking place through this weekend of October 26-27.

Featuring among the brands present at ACE 2024 are BMW and MINI as well as BMW Motorrad, represented by Auto Bavaria. Among the latest in Malaysia from the German marque is the G60 BMW 5 Series in 520i guise, which features alongside the facelifted G20 3 Series as well as the 6 Series Gran Turismo facelift.

The G60 520i comes equipped with the manufacturer’s 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, arriving in M Sport guise that brings sporty design elements, a bold front grille and sporty bumpers. Inside, the BMW Live Cockpit Professional and BMW Operating System 8.5 drive a 12.3-inch Instrument display and 14.9-inch Control display with real-time data, navigation and entertainment.

Electrification puts in a strong showing at the BMW booth with the presence of the iX1 and iX2, the former being offered in single-motor FWD and dual-motor AWD guise, the latter packing up to 313 PS and 494 Nm to enable a 0-100 km/h run of 5.7 seconds. The similarly motivated iX2 does it marginally quicker at 5.6 seconds, and both battery-electric BMWs have a top speed of 180 km/h.

BMW Group stablemate MINI also goes strongly into electrification, and the British brand is showing the recently launched Aceman at ACE 2024. This brings a single-motor front-wheel-drive electric powertrain that outputs 218 PS and 330 Nm, good for a 0-100 km/h run in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 170 km/h.

Its 54.2 kWh battery enables up to 406 km of range (WLTP), while up to 95 kW DC charging enables a 10-80% recharge in 30 minutes.

Joining the Aceman at the MINI Auto Bavaria booth is the Countryman, which also packs an electric powertrain albeit one that packs a dual-motor layout with AWD, as denoted by its All4 naming. This gets the same 66.5 kWh battery as the BMW iX1, and 432 km of range (WLTP) on a full charge. DC fast charging can be up to 130 kW, doing 10-80% in 30 minutes, while AC charging is possible up to 22 kW.

Looking to go the two-wheeler route at ACE 2024? Auto Bavaria has you covered with BMW Motorrad, which brings the latest generation of its adventure-touring motorcycle, the R 1300 GS, and its electric scooter, the CE 04.

The R 1300 GS is marked step on from its predecessors, featuring a stiffer main frame and a die-cast aluminium rear sub-frame that replaces the trellis tube design of past generations, along with revamped suspension.

The star of the Gelande Strasse as denoted in its model name, is the new 1,300 cc boxer-twin engine with its relocated gearbox and new camshafts, making it the most powerful boxer engine yet from BMW Motorrad, with outputs of 145 hp and 145 Nm sent through a shaft final drive, as customary on a flagship GS.

For urban mobility that is even more futuristic in styling, BMW Motorrad brings the CE 04, which packs a 42 hp electric drive motor enabling a 0-50 km/h time of 2.6 seconds, and a top speed of 120 km/h. A full charge of its battery brings 130 km of range, with a 0-80% charge taking 65 minutes.

With the latest in established models, fully electric offerings and two-wheelers, a wide range of tastes will be catered for. Come on down to ACE 2024 that is ongoing right now at the Setia City Convention Centre, this weekend of October 26-27. Admission is free.
