Woman found shot and killed inside Clovis home, police say. Suspect was later arrested

A woman is dead Saturday morning after shots rang out inside a Clovis home.

Officers initially responded to a disturbance at 10:20 a.m. in the 3800 block of Hampton Way, near Ashlan Avenue.

Police said multiple family members were inside the home when officers went inside and found a woman with a gunshot wound.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive to the shooting is unknown.

The alleged shooter was later arrested Saturday afternoon, according to police. He was identified as 21-year-old Tavion Tapscott of Fresno. Police said he turned himself into officers without incident.

Tapscott will be booked into Fresno County Jail for homicide, felony child endangerment, and other related charges.

The woman is known to Tapscott. Her identity is not being released, police said.

Police Lt. Scott Borsch said there was a “decent amount of people living in the home” including children.

The woman, police said, lives at the home.

Police said if you or someone you know has been the victim of domestic violence, to call authorities.

In Clovis, police said they are available anytime at 911 for emergencies and 559-324-2800 for non-emergencies. In Fresno County, there are several organizations and agencies that offer assistance. The Marjaree Mason Center is a trusted resource with a 24-hour crisis line at 559-233-4357.
