Markets and more: U.S. stocks were mixed Tuesday. Initially, the September ADP report on hiring at U.S. companies gave a small boost to the market, thanks to better-than-expected job gains with cooling wage growth. We get a bigger read on the labor market Friday when the government releases its September employment report, which includes key snapshots of nonfarm payrolls, the nation's jobless rate, and wage inflation. Oil was higher but off session highs. We're watching for a slight temporary inverse linkage between oil and stocks as the market monitors ongoing Mideast tensions after Tuesday's Iran missile attack on Israel. Semiconductor stocks are a bright spot, with Club name Broadcom as one of the better-performing stocks in the S & P 500. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Club chipmaker Nvidia , is set to appear on CNBC television around 4 p.m. ET to discuss the firm's newest partnership with Accenture . The two companies are teaming up to expand enterprise AI adoption. Other headlines we're watching include a Financial Times report that Club holding Amazon is planning to increase the number of advertisements that are shown on Prime Video, providing an incremental boost to its fast-growing, high-margin digital advertising business. Apple Intelligence : Club stock Apple turned positive Wednesday, despite more analysts trimming their 2024 iPhone 16 estimates. The latest was from JPMorgan which said the 16 launch is "lacking early momentum" for the higher-end models. Interestingly, Apple Intelligence is the sixth top reason someone would buy a new iPhone, according to a recent survey by JPMorgan analysts. Some of the reasons ahead of AI were a faster device and 5G connectivity, which are not any different from prior models. The survey results go along with the thinking that Apple Intelligence may rely on word of mouth from early adopters using the software to build awareness. This is a reasonable view — but in general, we reiterate that it's too early to judge the strength of the upgrade cycle until Apple Intelligence is available. Some of these new features are expected to become available later in October, with more rolling out in the months ahead. Up next: Levi Strauss reports earnings after Wednesday's closing bell. CEO Michelle Gass will be on "Mad Money" with Jim Cramer. Club brewer Constellation Brands delivers its quarterly results before Thursday's open, and we expect the company to reiterate its recently lowered full-year outlook. More closely, we're watching beer sales trends among Constellation's popular Mexican brands Modelo, Corona, and Pacifico, and we're looking for answers on what management plans to do with its struggling wine and spirits business. Thursday morning also weekly jobless claims, durable goods orders, and ISM services data. (See here for a full list of the stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust.)
