Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-earned win at rock-bottom Wolves on Saturday evening. Mohamed Salah scored from the spot on 61 minutes after Ibrahima Konate's first-half opener was equalised by Rayan Ait-Nouri following a mix-up in the visitors defence.

The result means Arne Slot's side stand a point clear of champions Manchester City after five wins from their opening six games.

And the ECHO was at Molineux to run the rule over the Liverpool players.

Clutched one effort from Cunha and commanded his area confidently throughout, but involved in mix-up for Wolves equaliser.

Trent Alexander-Arnold 7

Put himself under pressure with needless early booking but dealt well with Bellegarde and swung in some dangerous crosses, including one from which Jota earned penalty.

Ibrahima Konate 6

One good block as Wolves threatened first half and in the right place to power in Jota’s cross for opener. At fault for equaliser, though, and a little spooked for a while after that. Booked.

Virgil van Dijk 7

Composure threatened by strong Wolves opening but managed to deal with Strand Larsen. Aerial prowess needed as home side forces succession of corners.

Andy Robertson 7

A regular attacking outlet down the left with a number of dangerous raids that should have earned the reward of an assist. Kept working hard but late knock a slight concern. Subbed.

Ryan Gravenberch 7

Unable to dominate in midfield as of late in first half but used possession intelligently and started to play his way into game and helped Liverpool take control.

Alexis Mac Allister 8

Coughed up possession far too often during the opening quarter but willing to put foot in when required and grew in influence second half. Very good.

Mohamed Salah 6

A succession of misplaced or underhit passes allied to intermittent flashes of genius and a cool head to convert from the spot.

Dominik Szoboszlai 5

A fitful first half of near things, and should really have scored when denied by Johnstone from close range. Lost his way completely after interval. Subbed.

Luis Diaz 6

Caused panic after giving ball away on edge of own area but became more of a threat in other direction as first half progressed. Subbed.

Diogo Jota 7

Plenty of running for little reward until forcing his way down the left and teeing up Konate for opener, and later won penalty for Liverpool winner. Booked.

Cody Gakpo (for Diaz 73) 6

Brought injection of energy down the left flank.

Curtis Jones (for Szoboszlai 73) 7

Forced one save from Johnstone and strong in possession.

Joe Gomez (for Robertson 89)

Brought on after Robertson injury.
