Meet the cast of Shetland season 9 featuring Poldark and Outlander stars

Later that evening, DI McIntosh finds himself at a friend's birthday bash where he witnesses a heated exchange between a married couple. Their nine year old lad confides in the detective about his parents' impending separation.
Before parting ways, the wife sets up a rendezvous with Tosh, hinting at something crucial she wishes to discuss. However, when Tosh shows up for the meeting, the mother and son are nowhere to be found.
The episodes will be broadcast every Wednesday at 9pm, gradually revealing who might be behind the disappearance of the mother and son.

DI Ruth Calder - Ashley Jensen
Ashley Jensen, a 55-year-old Scottish actress, is renowned for her portrayals of Maggie Jacobs in Extras and Christina McKinney in Ugly Betty.
She also embodied the main character in the Agatha Raisin series and featured in Ricky Jervais' popular show, After Life.
She is wedded to Vera star Kenny Doughty, having exchanged vows in 2023.
Prior to this, she was hitched to actor Terence Beesley for a decade, from 2007 to 2017.
DI 'Tosh' McIntosh - Alison O'Donnell
Alison O'Donnell, a Scottish actress known for her work in TV, theatre and film, has credits including Feel the Force and Holby City.
She took on a leading role in My Romantic History, a play showcased at the Edinburgh Fringe.
She shares a life with Scottish playwright D. C. Jackson, and together they have two children.
DC Sandy Wilson - Steven Robertson
DC Sandy Wilson is portrayed by Steven Robertson, a 47-year-old Scottish actor, born near where Shetland is filmed. He's also recognised for his roles in Inside I'm Dancing, Being Human, Luther and The Bletchley Circle.
Currently, he resides in Hertfordshire with his wife Charlotte Allam and their daughter.
Sgt Billy McCabe - Lewis Howden
Sgt Billy McCabe is played by Lewis Howden, a Scottish actor who has previously appeared in Meet You In Scotland, You Were There and Annika. Prior to his role on Shetland, he was seen in Boxer and Still Game.
Donnie Russell - Angus Miller
Donnie Russell is brought to life by Angus Miller, whose acting career began in 2016 with a few short films. His first significant TV role was in Teacup Travels, followed by appearances in Guilt, The Gold and Natural Causes.
The Rev Alan Calder - Steven Miller
The Rev Alan Calder is played by Steven Miller, a 42-year-old Scottish actor most known for his role as Lenny Lyons in Casualty. His other credits include Holby City, The Bill and Payback.
Malcolm Kidd - Stuart Campbell
Malcolm Kidd is portrayed by Stuart Campbell, a 26-year-old Scottish actor known for his roles in The Winter King and The Chemistry of Death. He has also appeared in SAS Rogue Heroes, Baptiste and Outlander.
Ian Bett - Robert Jack
Ian Bett is played by Robert Jack, an actor, director and writer known for his role as Jacko in Gary Tank Commander. His other roles include The Last Czars, Princess Mirror-Belle and Succession.
Annie Bett - Sarah MacGillivray
Annie Bett is portrayed by Sarah MacGillivray.
Sarah MacGillivray's acting journey began in 2014, with a minor role in Outlander in 2016 marking one of her early appearances.
She has graced a number of short films and portrayed Susan in The Lost King.
John Harris - Vincent Regan
John Harris is played by Vincent Regan, an actor and director famed for his roles in Snow White and the Huntsman, 300 and Troy.
Married to actress Amelia Curtis since 2001, the couple share three children. In 2019, he took on the role of Edward Despard in Poldark.
Euan Rossi - Ian Hart
Euan Rossi is brought to life by Ian Davies, who is better known by his stage name Ian Hart. The 60 year old English actor is renowned for his roles as Father Beocca in The Last Kingdom and Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
He shares two children with his wife, Lynn Hart.
Frank Kirk - Richard Thomson
Frank Kirk is portrayed by Richard Thomson, who has previously starred in This Is Going To Hurt and EastEnders.
His other notable credits include Ghosts, Lovesick and Fit.
Joni Connal - Gemma McElhinney
Joni Connal is played by Gemma McElhinney, who viewers may recognise from her role as PC Janice Hogg in the detective series Karen Pirie.
She also had small roles in Outlander and Two Doors Down.
Tara Kirk - Nalini Chetty
Tara Kirk is played by Nalini Chetty, who was born in Edinburgh and played Zinnie Hassoun in BBC drama River City between 2011 and 2016.
As a writer, she has collaborated with BBC Scotland, CBeebies, C4 and Radio 4. She resides near Glasgow and is a mother to two children.
Noah Bett - Jacob Ferguson
Noah Bett is portrayed by Jacob Ferguson, who is making his acting debut in Shetland. Little is known about him at this time.
