Strictly Come Dancing fans have expressed their confusion and concern over the choice of dance style given to Nick Knowles following his return to the show after a knee injury.

The much-loved dance programme was back for another instlament on Saturday night with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman leading the way. DIY SOS star Nick and his partner Luba Mushtuk were also back following a week away from the live show due to Nick's knee injury.

The DIY SOS star and his partner Luba Mushtuk performed the Charleston, a high-energy dance that typically requires a lot of footwork, which some viewers felt was too demanding for Nick's recovering knee.

Taking to social media, fans shared their thoughts on the decision, with one saying: "Only #Strictly can give out a #Charleston to Nick with a bad knee. Ridiculous."

Another viewer commented: "Glad to see Nick made it back but because of the injury the reworked choreography made for a lacklustre Charleston. What he could dance he did well."

Others echoed similar sentiments, with one fan saying: "Of all the dances to give Nick Knowles after coming back from a knee injury... a Charleston."

Another viewer sympathised with Nick, saying: "You can really tell Nick is still on the painkillers, he's still injured clearly and not wanting to really go for it. Good effort, just needed him to totally go for it which I'm not sure he was able to," reports the Mirror.

Prior to receiving his scores, Nick got candid about his comeback on the show, admitting: "To be honest this time last week, I thought I was out. So I'm just over the moon."

After his performance, Nick garnered 21 points from the judges amidst a noteworthy four from Craig Revel-Horwood. Yet, some spectators considered his score generous.

A frustrated fan weighed in on Nick's scoring, comparing it to another participant's by remarking: "Pity points for Nick and Luba? No way was that Charleston only one point away from Sarah and Vito."

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturdays at 6:20pm on BBC One.
