Jermaine Jenas returns to TV two months after BBC axe

Jermaine Jenas was spotted making his first TV appearance since his BBC dismissal, attending Arsenal's significant clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

The ex-Magpies and England midfielder, age 41, found himself dropped by the BBC back in August due to a controversy involving sending untoward texts to female colleagues, after which he maintained a rather discrete presence.

Jenas did, however, take to his Instagram last month posting a video where he spoke about the matter and, expressing gratitude for the support received, led viewers to believe that he might be returning to broadcasting shortly.

Indeed, it has come to light that the former One Show presenter was at the Emirates Stadium this past weekend working for a foreign broadcaster during the colossal Premier League match between the Gunners and Liverpool.

Post-retirement, Jenas transitioned quite smoothly into sports commentary, becoming a staple on BBC programmes, including Match of the Day and co-hosting The One Show, reports the Mirror.

Before his BBC exit was made official, there were whispers about Jenas being lined up as the long-term successor to Gary Lineker as the lead for MOTD. A spokesperson from the BBC declared in August: "We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up."

Besides the BBC, Jenas regularly contributed to TNT Sports' Premier League coverage, although he hasn't been seen on their platform since the BBC ended his contract.

In a social media post last month, Jenas hinted at some "exciting" new endeavours on the horizon while musing on his current circumstances.

Reflecting on his state of affairs, he shared: "There's some exciting stuff that I've been working on. So hopefully you'll have that to look forward to very soon. And hopefully I'll be back just talking about what I love really, which is football. I've been living the life of those Spurs fans who've been up and down and up and down."

He continued: "Forest got a great result up at Anfield and have been playing well. So I've been watching but I'm looking forward to kind of getting back and just talking about what I love most. So last of all, thank you very much and, yeah, I'll see you soon."
