CCTV footage has shown the moment a hooded man allegedly 'stabbed' 36-year-old Lee Crewe in Newport. Following the incident, at Chepstow Road in Newport on Tuesday, May 14, the hooded man is seen running from the scene while Mr Crewe falls to the ground.

Emergency services, including paramedics and police rushed to the scene but Mr Crewe was found unresponsive and died. 21-year-old David Sisman, of Hubert Road in Newport, who police and the CPS claim is the hooded man, denies murder.

A trial at Newport Crown Court on Tuesday, October 29, heard the man alleged to be Sisman walked towards the Glebelands Park area beside the River Usk and entered a wooded area following the incident, where he stayed for around 25 minutes before heading back where he came from towards his home in St Julians. Footage shows the hooded man, still with his face covered with a grey hood wrapped tightly around his face, casually walking home that evening.

Body-worn footage from police constable Tatchell, of Gwent Police, who was on patrol at the time of the incident and had been alerted to the incident by a member of the public, was also played to the jury. The footage briefly shows the officer running to the scene and telling the control room someone had been stabbed.

Sisman was arrested the following day at his home address. He pleaded not guilty to murder and was remanded in custody. The trial continues. For the latest court reports, sign up to our crime newsletter here
