This Morning's Alison Hammond says 'I'm so sorry' after awkward blunder with Hollywood star
by Tianna Corbin · Wales OnlineThis Morning's Alison Hammond experienced an embarrassing moment during Friday's episode when she accidentally botched one of the guests names on the ITV programme.
As the broadcast commenced, the hosts excitedly informed their audience that they would be chatting with Hollywood A-listers Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter about their upcoming series Landman.
Yet, a moment of awkwardness ensued when Alison began announcing the star-studded lineup and mistakenly said Billy Bob's name.
Embarrassingly, she declared: "Now, it doesn't get more star-studded than today on our sofa, does it? Absolutely unbelievable, we're very excited to be joined by Hollywood legends Demi Moore, Job Hamm, Billy Rob Thornton- sorry about that, Bob!"
Ali Larter, seated on the sofa, playfully remarked on the faux pas: "Great start!"
Alison couldn't help but laugh over her slip-up as Dermot cracked a quip suggesting that the erroneous name was another guest on the show.
Attempting to move past the error, Alison politely said: "So sorry! Billy Bob, apologies!"
Showing visible discomfort from the blunder, Alison took refuge behind Dermot while he briefed viewers about their new show, reports the Mirror.
However, Dermot wasn't going to let the incident go unnoticed as he teased: "You can't hide!"
While the actor shrugged off the mistake with good humour, viewers didn't miss a beat in commenting on the blunder.
One viewer asked: "Billy Rob?[emoji]"
Another commented: "Oh jeez, cringing #ThisMorning." While someone else wrote: "I'd really love to know who this "Billy Rob" bloke is, Alison!"
During their chat, Dermot quizzed Billy about the details of the show and what viewers can anticipate. Billy explained: "It's about the ins and outs, the ups and downs, the good and the bad and ugly of the oil business.
"It's how we get the oil out of the ground and how dangerous it is and the people that worked in it or around it. It's about families that are affected by it, so it's not just a series about oil, it's also about the lifestyle of the people and what it does to them.
"A landman is essentially a person who procures the land to drill on and it's not always easy. Sometimes you're sharing that land with various characters."
Speaking to the ITV presenter, he described his role as a mediator between the oil company workers and the owner.
Billy added: "I'm in charge of making him money, there's a lot of pressure on me to do that."
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
