BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers furious over 'joke' scores as judges spark outrage

by · Wales Online

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left disgruntled on Saturday night as they questioned the judges' scoring for some of the contestants.

The BBC show is in full swing with the remaining celebrities entering their sixth week in the competition. Last Sunday, BBC viewers were taken aback when JB Gill found himself in the dance-off, despite earning a respectable score of 30.

However, the judges chose to save him over sports star Paul Merson, making him the fourth person to exit the competition alongside Tom Dean, Toyah Willcox and Nick Knowles.

This weekend another contestant's journey on the BBC show will conclude, although each is hopeful their spooky routines will impress viewers at home.

However, viewers weren't pleased with some of the scores given for routines, particularly Wynne Evans and JB Gill, reports the Mirror.

Wynne and Katya performed a Salsa to the song Canned Heat by Jamiroquai and earned themselves a score of 31, putting them on par with Pete Wicks and Jowita Przysta.

JB and Amy took to the dance floor for a Foxtrot to Dancing in The Moonlight and earned a high score of 32.

Following the latest episode, viewers quickly took to Twitter to criticise the judges for handing out scores they deemed excessively high.

One viewer expressed disappointment, commenting: "Wynne well overmarked IMHO It was more 25 or 26 and definitely not a 31. Judges have the people they like and they pick up an extra point per judge. Seems unfair to me but it's not a dance show anymore."

Another chimed in with their disapproval, stating: "Wynne getting overmarked again."

The fairness of the scoring became a hot topic, with one individual commenting: "The scoring this year has been all over the place, specifically for the men... They are all overmarked every single week."

Someone else wrote: "Both JB and Wynne were massively massively overmarked. Way way too much messing around and losing all technical aspects. An absolute joke,"

Another puzzled viewer remarked: "A 9 for that? Overmarked to keep him safe."

While someone else fumed: "Wynne and Katya overmarked again. Was I watching another dance?!"

Despite receiving a higher score than last week, JB could end up facing elimination in the bottom two on Sunday once again.

JB discussed his survival in a recent appearance on It Takes Two, reflecting: "I mean we got 30! So it wasn't like we got a shammy score! Of course, it's always disappointing I think when you put so much work into training and obviously you work hard in the week like everybody does to not have the result that you want which is to go through to the next week, to find yourself in the dance-off is always a little bit disheartening."

JB remarked on the fierce competition, saying: "It's not what you're looking for but the level of competition this year is very very high. You can see that the standard is right up there so it's one of those things. It's part of the show and of course, it meant that I got to do the dance again."

BBC audiences will have to hold out until Sunday night to discover if JB has performed well enough to steer clear of the dance-off for another week.
