Liam Payne's football club pay tribute after singer's tragic death

West Bromwich Albion have paid tribute to Liam Payne after the former One Direction singer's tragic death at the age of 31.

Payne was on holiday with girlfriend Kate Cassidy in Buenos Aires when he reportedly fell from the third floor of a hotel.

Tributes have since flooded in from across the world for Payne, who rose to stardom with One Direction after his appearance alongside band mates Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan on hit ITV talent show the X Factor.

It is believed that he was in South America to attend a concert by former band-mate Horan, and had even posted a picture of them "reunited".

His death has sent shockwaves throughout the world, and has even extended to the world of football.

Payne was a passionate West Brom fan, and his club have joined the legions of others in pay tribute to the star.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the club said: "We're shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Baggies fan and musician, Liam Payne.

"Our thoughts are with Liam's family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time."
