Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans shares biggest concern after viewer backlash

Wynne Evans has admitted what his biggest concern is on this week on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Go Compare star was embroiled in severe viewer backlash after his 'inside joke' with Katya Jones went very wrong. Wynne was accused of making his professional dance partner Katya uncomfortable, but she insisted that wasn't the case.

A few weeks on, the pair are busy getting on with their rehearsals for next week, where they will dance a Rumba to This is My Life by Dame Shirley Bassey as part of the show's new Icons week.

Speaking about the rehearsals during a segment on It Takes Two, Wynne revealed: "Rumba I'm enjoying but I don't know if I'm doing it right. I've got concerns about the hips. The hips, the hips, the hips."

Katya chimed in to add: "The hips are getting looser. Wynne's got beautifully shaped long legs so if we can put the legs with the hips, it'll be perfection. Can we get there by Saturday, who knows?"

Wynne previously confessed his nerves over doing the rumba routine.

Asked what he was dancing next, he told fans in an Instagram Q&A: "I don’t know. I don’t look at what’s coming up. I just have to focus on getting through this week. I’m now the oldest and the fattest, so the fact I’ve made it this far is incredible.

"So just focus on this week and getting through this week and then we’ll see if I’m there next week. There’s a lot of hips in the rumba, I may have actually discovered where my hips are."

At the time, Wynne admitted he was "heartbroken" by how their joke was received.

"I'm absolutely heartbroken by the things that have been written about me in the last day. It's not nice to live in that time, but basically Katya and I are really, really close and we're really good friends, and on Saturday night we made a stupid joke," he said.

"It was a stupid joke that went wrong, okay? We thought it was funny. It wasn't funny. It has been totally misinterpreted. Everything's on Katya's socials. She's talked about it. She's explained that it was a joke."

He added: "She wasn't offended in the least. She doesn't feel uncomfortable. We've got a brilliant friendship, an absolutely tight friendship, and I'm sorry if anybody was offended by it, but it was a joke. And that's all there is. There is no real story, really. I feel weird apologising because I feel like I've not really done anything."
