Some toll rates on motorways to increase from January

Some toll rates for motorways and the Dublin Port Tunnel will increase from 2025, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has confirmed.

On the M50, there will be a 10-cent increase for cars, buses, coaches and lighter goods vehicles that are not registered with a tag or video account.

There is no increase for cars who do have a tag or video account.

Heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) exceeding 10,000kg with a tag and video account will also see a 10-cent increase, with a 20 cent increase for unregistered HGVs.

Dublin Port Tunnel will see an increase of €1 for southbound traffic at peak AM times, rising from €12 to €13.

TII said this increase was warranted to preserve capacity for HGVs, which will continue to have free travel at the tunnel at all times.

Remaining Port Tunnel tolls will remain unchanged.

On eight roads ((M1, M3, M4, M7/M8 ,M8, the N18 Limerick Tunnel and the N25 Waterford) there will be a 10-cent increase for buses, coaches and HGVs, except for the M3 where tolls for HGVs not exceeding 3,500kg remain unchanged.

For cars on these roads, there is no increase except for the M4 Kilcock to Kinnegad where there is a 10-cent increase.

The TII said the increases come after the consumer price index increased by 1.7% between August 2023 to last August.
