“Such beliefs don’t represent Islam” – Perlis Becomes 1st State to Declare GISBH’s Teachings as Deviant

In a statement yesterday (September 20, Perlis Mufti Datuk Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said that the fatwa was issued based on evidence showing that GISBH is a continuation of the outlawed Al-Arqam movement, which was banned in Malaysia.
Asri also explained in detail why GISBH’s teachings have been deemed NOT equivalent to Islamic belief.
The followers of GISB believe their deceased leaders are still alive and guiding them and assume their existing leaders are equivalent to the prophets.
“The followers attribute them with the power to perform miracles, and claiming they possess knowledge of the unseen. This makes them blindy obey their leaders, even when the instructions are against the teachings of Islam.”
He highlighted that the effects and consequences of cultism have given rise to extreme fanaticism to the extent that obeying leaders or religious groups contradicts the Quran and the Sunnah.
Asri also said they seek blessings from their leaders’ physical remains and justify their actions with references to figures such as Imam Mahdi, Prophet Muhammad, and saints. However, Asri believes that GISBH followers are NOT at the point of no return.
“We call upon the Muslim community to support GISBH followers in their rehabilitation.”
What about the economic strength that Malaysian preacher Ridhuan Tee recently praised?
In his statement, Asri said it contradicts the principles of Islamic economics because it has elements of oppression and slavery towards those involved, as well as the exploitation of members, children, women, and families for the benefit of the cultists.
As of this morning (September 21), the Terengganu state government also plans to declare GISBH’s teachings deviant.
