Shark Thriller ‘Zipline’ Casts Ioan Gruffudd, Ross Butler and Holland Roden (EXCLUSIVE)
by Andrés Buenahora · VarietyThe shark thriller film “Zipline” has launched sales with a cast that includes Ioan Gruffudd (“Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” “Fantastic Four” franchise), Ross Butler (“Shazam!” franchise, “To All the Boys: Always & Forever,” “Riverdale”), Holland Roden (“Teen Wolf,” “Mayans MC”) and Sonia Ammar (“Scream,” “The Equalizer 3”).
The feature is written by George Mahaffey Jr. and directed by Magnus Martens (“SAS: Red Notice,” “Fear the Walking Dead”). Simple House Films is producing, marking the debut project under that production banner. Black Bear owns the international rights to the film.
“After reuniting for a relaxing getaway on a tropical island, a group of college friends find their adventurous spirits tested to the limit when an exhilarating zipline excursion leaves them hanging perilously hundreds of feet over a deserted lagoon. As the temperature rises and the zipline begins to collapse, they work together to find a way down but are horrified to discover that an even greater threat awaits them in the depths below,” reads the film’s logline.

Gruffudd has been in a number of television and film projects over the course of his decades-spanning career, such as “Horrible Bosses,” “San Andreas,” “The Reunion,” “Harrow” and “Liar.” Outside of “Riverdale,” Butler has acted for television in the Netflix series’ “13 Reasons Why.” Roden has appeared in “Escape Room: Tournament of Champions” and “Follow Me.” Anmar is part of the cast for “Megalopolis” in addition to her roles in “Scream” and “The Equalizer 3.”
“Zipline” recently wrapped production and will be represented by Black Bear to buyers at the American Film Market in November.
