Fire destroys chalet at Jalan Bakam
by Jacqueline Raphael · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Sept 21): A chalet at Jalan Bakam here was completely destroyed in a fire that broke out in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a call at 2.32am and promptly despatched a team from the Miri Central and Lopeng fire stations to the scene.
“Upon their arrival, they found the fire involved a non-permanent structure chalet which was 100 per cent destroyed,” said a spokesperson in a statement.
The team began to bring the fire under control and extinguish the fire and after ensuring the situation was safe and there were no other sources of fire, they handed over the task to the fire forensics team to investigate the cause of the fire.
No injuries were reported in the incident and the operation ended at 4.02am.
