Driver, attendant escape unscathed after cargo lorry catches fire near Saratok

KUCHING (Oct 15): The driver and attendant of a cargo lorry escaped unscathed after the vehicle caught fire on the Pan Borneo Highway near Saratok around midnight today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a call on the incident was received at 1.10am.

A team from the Saratok fire station was despatched to the scene.

“The incident involved the cab of the lorry, which caught fire.

“Both the driver and the attendant managed to escape to a safe area,” Bomba said in a statement.

Firefighters managed to completely extinguish the fire and wrap up the operation at 2.20am after ensuring the area was safe for all road users.
