MIRI (Sept 22): A 59-year-old man is feared to have been attacked by a crocodile in Kuala Baram after failing to return home from fishing since Sunday morning.

According to Lutong Fire and Rescue (Bomba) station chief Henry Jugah, they received a distress call from the victim’s daughter at 5.55pm.

“She said her father, identified as Minggu Ikum, had gone fishing at around 7.30am but still failed to return home. She contacted him twice today, but he did not respond.

“She drove to the location and found his car parked by the roadside,” he said.

Henry added the family went to search for the victim but to no avail.

He said the family found his net, which was torn, and marks which suggested the victim may have been pulled into the water.
