8 units destroyed in flat fire in Permyjaya

MIRI (Oct 13): Eight units of a two-storey flat in Permyjaya were destroyed in a fire yesterday afternoon.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a distress call about the incident at 3.05pm, and firefighters from Lutong, Miri, and Lopeng fire stations were despatched to the location.

“Upon arrival, it was found that the fire had affected eight units with six completely destroyed and two around 60 per cent damaged.”

Bomba said the firefighters proceeded to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to other units.

After ensuring that the fire was fully put out, the operation concluded at 6.18pm.

The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
