MIRI (Oct 26): A 30-kilogram python found near an abandoned house in Kampung Wireless was safely captured on Friday by the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM).

An agency spokesperson said they received a call around 2.35pm from a concerned neighbor who spotted the python near her residence.

“The caller informed that she spotted a python hiding outside of an abandoned house near her residence.

“Concerned for her safety and her neighbours, she reached out to Miri District Operations Control Centre for assistance to capture the snake,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

A team of five APM personnel was promptly dispatched to the scene, located some eight minutes away.

Upon arrival, the team spoke with the 60-year-old caller, who directed them to the snake’s location.

Using a snare technique, the team successfully captured the big reptile, which measured about 4 meters in length.

After ensuring the area was safe, the operation concluded around 4.09pm.
