Man in Kuching fined RM2,500 for meth possession
by Hafizah Abdul Hamid · Borneo Post OnlineKUCHING (Nov 1): A 26-year-old man was fined RM2,500 in default six months in jail after pleading guilty in the Magistrates’ Court here today to possessing 0.04 grams of methamphetamine.
David Evan Sa’ee entered the plea after the charge under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act, was read to him before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
He committed the offence in front of a house in Kampung Haji Baki here at around 11.50am on Aug 13, 2024.
Based on the facts of the case, police detained David on suspicion of involvement in drug-related activities.
David then voluntarily handed over a plastic packet containing substance believed to be drugs.
A chemist report dated Sept 12, 2024, confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine weighing 0.04 grammes.
The case was prosecuted by Insp Nur Ain Wong while David did not have legal representation.
