Immigration Department 4WD parked in Pending destroyed in fire

KUCHING (Oct 23): A four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle belonging to the Sarawak Immigration Department went up in flames at Jalan Pending here early today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a call on the incident was received at 4.27am and personnel from the Padungan fire station were rushed to the location.

“The vehicle was parked next to an office building and was completely destroyed. No report of injury was received,” it said in a statement.

Bomba said firefighters took several minutes to extinguish the flames, and departed back to their station after ensuring the situation was safe.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In a separate incident, a collision involving a car and van at Jalan Stakan in Kota Sentosa early today resulted in the car bursting into flames.

Bomba said no injuries were reported among those involved in the crash, which happened around 4.30am.

The firefighting operation involved personnel from the Batu Lintang fire station.
