BINTULU (Sept 19): The search and rescue (SAR) operation for a six-year-old girl, feared to have been attacked by a crocodile, resumed in Tatau today.

When contacted, Tatau fire station chief Jankey Jikat said the SAR operation is ongoing, adding he would provide updates periodically.

“I will be joining the team for the SAR operation later,” he said.

The girl went missing yesterday evening while bathing in a river at a village near the old Tatau bazaar.

A statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) identified the girl as Cicilia Julan Intik.

She was bathing in the river with her family members around 6.30pm when the incident occurred.

Her grandfather is said to have witnessed the attack and immediately called for help.

Rescuers from the Tatau fire station were dispatched and arrived at the village at 7.30pm.
