Fire destroys hawker’s stall in Miri
by jenifer laeng · Borneo Post OnlineMIRI (Sept 22): A hawker’s stall at Morsjaya here was destroyed in a fire last night.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident
The Fire and Rescue (Bomba) Department said they were notified about the incident at 10.59pm, and firefighters from Lopeng fire station were deployed to the scene.
“Upon arrival at the scene at 11.16pm the firefighters found that the fire involved a semi-permanent stall, which was about 90 per cent destroyed,” it added.
Bomba said the firefighters proceeded to extinguished the fire and managed to put it under control at around ten minutes later.
“After the fire was extinguished, overhaul works were conducted to ensure that there there were no remnants of fire left at the scene.”
The operation ended at 12.09am this morning.
Bomba said the cause of the fire and total loss incurred are still being investigated.
