Motorcyclist injured after crashing into ditch in Meradong

SIBU (Sept 27): A man was injured after he crashed his motorcycle into a ditch at Jalan Bakong, Meradong today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a report on the single-vehicle accident was received at 7.18am.

Six personnel from the Meradong fire station led by operation commander Peter Jinang were sent to the scene.

“On arrival, a male victim was found lying in the ditch suffering from injuries and was unable to move,” Bomba said in a statement.

Firefighters gave the victim first aid at the scene.

This included placing a cervical collar and leg brace on him to stabilise his condition before using a stretcher to bring him to safety.

The victim was later brought to hospital in an ambulance for further observation.
