Afternoon rain causes flooding, traffic standstill at sections along Jalan Kuching-Serian

KUCHING (Oct 14): The afternoon rain at around 2pm today caused floods hitting several stretches of Jalan Kuching-Serian here.

In observation conducted by The Borneo Post, a stretch at Mile 13 was submerged.

Still, it could be seen that a number of motorists braved through the flooded stretches, but there was a traffic standstill at Mile 14 heading towards Mile 13.

Some road users made U-turns to avoid going through that flooded section.

“It can be seen that the floodwater level is at a depth of about one foot,” said a spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operations centre.

Moreover, the traffic slowdown could also be observed from Mile 4 flyover heading to Mile 6.
