Vice President Kamala Harris has called Donald Trump to congratulate him on winning the 2024 presidential race, according to a senior Harris aide.

Harris discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans, the aide said.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement that, in their call, the president-elect “acknowledged Vice President Harris on her strength, professionalism, and tenacity throughout the campaign, and both leaders agreed on the importance of unifying the country,” NBC reported.

Harris is expected to deliver a concession speech at 4 p.m. at Howard University, her alma mater.

President Joe Biden has also spoken with President-elect Donald Trump and plans to address the nation on Thursday, CNN reported.

President Biden congratulated him on his victory and invited him to the White House, according to a White House official.

The president is also planning to address the nation on Thursday, the official said.

Biden also spoke with Vice President Kamala Harris and “congratulated the Vice President on her historic campaign,” the official said.
