Ten players who could miss Manchester United vs Chelsea game amid Jadon Sancho update
by Jack Flintham · football.londonChelsea make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday in a match which will see them out of the spotlight for a change.
Hosts Manchester United have been across the back pages, this week, after sacking their manager Erik ten Hag on Monday and replacing him with Ruben Amorim on Friday. Amorim will not be in the dugout on Sunday with the 39-year-old not officially taking over until the first week of November's international break.
Nevertheless, all eyes will be on interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy - who insisted this week that he will revert to being an assistant again after his spell as a caretaker comes to an end. In his first match in charge, he led United to a 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
As for Chelsea, they have also been involved in League Cup action this week but their run in the competition has now come to an end. A 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James' Park ended their run so Enzo Maresca will be looking for a response from his players.
The Blues head coach will have his whole cohort to choose from except for Jadon Sancho. The winger is ineligible to play against his parent club but, even if he was not, he would still be unable to feature.
According to Maresca, Sancho is currently suffering from illness an - as such - is out of action. How United would wish for such minor injury problems.
Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw, Toby Collyer and Antony are all definitely out of the clash at Old Trafford with their respective issues and are in a race against the clock to compete again this year. Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo both claimed they would be out for a few weeks when they picked up their issues at Aston Villa before October's international break.

Both men could make their returns against the Blues, but were not fit enough for the bench against Leicester. Another to miss out on Wednesday was playmaker Christian Eriksen.
The extent of his problem is unknown, but United have their fingers crossed it is nothing serious considering his start to the campaign. Tyrell Malacia is a long-term absentee but he could easily return against Chelsea albeit it would be a shock after missing the entirety of last season.
Former Chelsea favourite Mason Mount is continuing to battle with a knock and head injury. Ten Hag hoped he would be healed sooner rather than later, but his last appearance came at the end of September.
