Why Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest is not on TV as Premier League rule blackout explained

The latest Chelsea news as Enzo Maresca's men look to maintain their perfect run against Nottingham Forest

Chelsea welcome Nottingham Forest to Stamford Bridge this afternoon, looking to remain in the Premier League top four places before the international break.

Enzo Maresca's men have won their last five games following the previous international break. As well as wins over Barrow and KAA Gent in cup competitions, the Blues have defeated Bournemouth, West Ham and Brighton in the Premier League.

Today, they take on Forest, who have enjoyed a decent start to the 2024/25 season. Nuno Espirito Santo's men are 11th in the table on nine points after beating Southampton and Liverpool but suffered their first defeat of the season last week against Fulham.

Since Forest returned to the top flight in 2022, Chelsea have only beat them once in four encounters. Last season, Anthony Elanga's winner handed the Reds all three points.

All eyes will be on Maresca's men to see how they overcome the latest hurdle. However, fans in the United Kingdom will not be able to watch the match due to a broadcast rule centred around the fixture's original kick-off time.

The fixture was originally supposed to take place at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, only to be moved to the 2pm Sunday slot due to Chelsea's participation in the Conference League. The Blues were in European action on Thursday night, beating Gent 4-2.

The game being scheduled for a 3pm kick-off on a Saturday means it falls under the TV blackout still imposed across English football. Nevertheless, you will be able to follow the game via football.london's live blog from Stamford Bridge.
