TV star Roman Kemp has revealed how a daunting run-in with a James Bond heavyweight during an interview left him close to tears.

Recalling the nerve-racking exchange on Peter Crouch's Therapy Crouch podcast, the telly favourite recounted how he was caught off guard by the actor’s formidable presence.

Roman, now no stranger to star-studded chats thanks to role on The One Show and his past gig as Capital Breakfast host, confessed a James Bond star nearly reduced him to tears at the star of his career.

When prompted by former England footballer Peter to recall his most memorable interview moments, Roman recalled one incident that remains etched in his memory. He told the sports star: "One person nearly made me cry. I was only young and it was for James Bond."

Roman went on to say: "He was terrifying in the film, but he is like that in real life. I sat there and I asked him this question, and it wasn't even a bad question, and then he sat and he thought." Impersonating the actor, Roman imitated: "He just turned to me and said, 'For the rest of this interview, I'll ask myself the questions I think I should be asked.'"

Left speechless, Roman admitted he barely spoke for the remainder of the session as the Bond star directed the conversation. Clarifying that it wasn’t Daniel Craig, the specifics, however, are cloaked in mystery as the name drop is mysteriously censored in the podcast.

The guessing game has exploded on social media, with fans theorising who the mysterious Bond figure could be, one fan suggested: "Bet it was Christoph Waltz he definitely gives that sort of energy." Christopher, famed for his portrayal of iconic Bond villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld in Spectre and No Time To Die, has fans recalling his memorable performance. However, opinions differ with one fan countering: "Javier Bardem." Javier made his mark in Skyfall as the cyberterrorist Raoul Silva.

Roman announced in February that he was stepping down as host of Capital Breakfast, 10 years after presenting his first programme for the station. Roman joined Capital in 2014 when it was still a London station, before hosting the prestigious The Capital Evening Show in 2016, and he moved to Capital Breakfast in 2017 before the show launched nationwide in 2019.

Reflecting on his exit in July, he told Auto Trader’s Show On The Road podcast: "What led me to leave Capital? ..Sleep." The TV and radio star, who has presented on the One Show since 2022 and came third in the 2019 edition of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, explained: "I didn’t really know that I had sleep apnoea until recently. And then I did these tests and the way the doctor described it to me was, I was running a half marathon in my sleep and not resting.

"Because the oxygen intake that I get in my sleep is like 20% of what you would get. I think leaving Capital for me was a mixture of things. I’m tired. I need to look after myself a little bit. I was trying to spin two careers at once. One is telly and the other is radio. But, on the other hand, there have been days where I’ve felt my lowest, and the radio is the thing that has kept me going. I’ve gone through things on air that no one should ever have to go through. You know, so it’s been sad leaving Capital, but I think it’s the right thing."
