McDonald's announces exact date popular burger will return after a decade

The rumours are true, the McRib is back this October - the beloved pork and barbecue burger will be returning after almost 10 years

With nearly a decade of anticipation, fan petitions and countless social media pleas, the legendary McRib returns to McDonald’s UK menus. You might have already seen the rumours but now it’s official – no need to travel to Europe to get your hands on it.

McRib, known for its tender pork patty, tangy barbecue sauce, pickles, onions, served all in on a homestyle bun, has been a cult favourite since its debut. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its comeback, and the moment has finally arrived.

McRib is back on October 16, for a limited time. Thomas O’Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald’s UK said: “It is more than just a sandwich; it’s a phenomenon.

"We have heard our fans loud and clear – the fan petitions and pleas on social - and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item.

"Knowing how well-loved the McRib is, we had very little choice - we had to make it happen. It was time to step up and satisfy the cravings of McRib enthusiasts across the country.

"You may have spotted the clues, and now we’re ready to confirm the recent rumours have been true all along." Fans have been convinced the McRib was due to return after a string of clues over the past few weeks, left behind by McDonald's.

A recent blunder on the app saw users get a test notification that read "McRib_Test.notification_16.10.24”. Billboards and advertisements have also seen McDonald's add a glimpse of the McRib 'by accident'.

Mr O’Neill added: "The McRib is back for a limited time only. So, grab your friends, head to your nearest McDonald’s, and get ready to reunite with the saucy, savoury goodness you’ve been dreaming about."

The McRib was first introduced in 1981. It has since developed a dedicated following, with fans tracking its elusive appearances around the globe.
