Liverpool news: Alisson targeted by rival as Virgil van Dijk sends advice to team-mate

Liverpool are preparing for their first Champions League home game of the season against Bologna on Wednesday night as they look to continue their superb momentum under Arne Slot

Liverpool are enjoying a high after going top of the Premier League table following their 2-1 win over Wolves - and now attentions turn to their clash against Bologna.

Arne Slot has had a great start to life at Anfield after winning five of his first six matches in charge, as well as an opening win in the Champions League at AC Milan.

The Reds are now preparing for their first Champions League home game of the season against Bologna on Wednesday night as they look to continue their superb momentum so far.

Mirror Football has taken a look at all the latest news and developments around Anfield ahead of the Bologna game.

Neville makes Liverpool title prediction

Gary Neville has risked the wrath of Liverpool fans by claiming they are not even in the top two favourites to win the title this season.

Supporters will take issue with Neville's comments after rising to the top of the table and looking like one of the most fluid teams of the season so far - but the pundit said although he believes they will have a good campaign, he wasn't impressed by them after watching their 2-1 win at Wolves.

"They're going to have a good season it looks like and maybe get Champions League football. I didn't feel like I was watching title winners [at Wolves] being honest with you."

Van Dijk sends advice to Gravenberch

Ryan Gravenberch is having a superb season at Anfield so far after starting every game under Arne Slot and forming a partnership with Alexis Mac Allister - and his compatriot Virgil van Dijk has revealed what his advice is for the midfielder.

He told the 22-year-old to focus on being consistent and staying away from injuries where possible to continue his development after struggling to get game time under Jurgen Klopp last season.

He said: "(My message is) stay fit, keep going, stay grounded, and don't listen to the praise that much," Van Dijk said. "Just stay calm and play well. He is playing with a lot of confidence with and without the ball.

"He has not had a lot of injuries and he is growing into it. He is very important and (Alexis) Mac Allister Mac Allister and (Dominik) Szoboszlai as well.

Alisson target for European rival

Alisson was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, with the Brazilian later confirming he turned down a switch to the Middle East because he is "really happy" at Anfield - but there could be another club to test his resolve.

Bayern Munich are now monitoring his situation, according to the Sun, with manager Vincent Kompany said to be a huge admirer of the player having seen him in the Premier League as a Man City player and while in charge of Burnley.

Liverpool are already braced for Alisson's exit, the report says, after signing Giorgi Mamardashvili to join in January and Bayern are now eyeing up a move for next summer.
